CanadaBuys Registration Guide for Canadian Suppliers
A current, practitioner-focused route from “we want to sell to government” to a usable SAP Business Network supplier profile.
01 / BEFORE YOU START
Gather the facts first.
Prepare your legal business name, head-office address, main administrator, order email, product and service categories, and CRA business number information. Use the same legal name and address CRA has on file.

02 / CREATE THE ACCOUNT
Start from the CanadaBuys registration link.
Use the registration path on CanadaBuys so Public Services and Procurement Canada is added to your SAP Business Network customer list. Create one account per CRA business number; duplicate accounts can delay or complicate setup.
- Open the official CanadaBuys registration page.
- Enter the legal company name, country, and head-office address.
- Create the main administrator account and choose the notification language.
- Enter the email that should receive orders.
- Select at least one product or service category.
- Accept the SAP terms, register, and activate the email.

03 / GOVERNMENT QUESTIONNAIRE
Complete the Government of Canada questions.
In Company Profile, open the Customer requested tab and select “Government of Canada / Gouvernement du Canada.” CanadaBuys states that questions 3 through 8 are required to submit a bid, while question 9 is mandatory for full registration.
04 / CRA BUSINESS NUMBER
Do not wait until award pressure.
Current official guidance distinguishes bidding from award: the detailed registration guide says a business number is not required to submit a bid, but it is required before contract award or issuance of a standing offer or supply arrangement. CanadaBuys’ July 6 change notice also tells suppliers to hold a valid CRA business number.
Our practical recommendation: obtain and validate it before your first serious bid. That removes an avoidable award-stage delay.

05 / FINISH THE PROFILE
Make the account operational, not merely created.
Add complete company information, relevant commodity categories, users and roles, notification settings, financial information when required, and a visible company profile appropriate to your business. Confirm who owns the administrator account internally.
07 / NEXT STEP
Registration only makes you eligible. Qualification protects your resources.
Before committing to a live tender, choose the goods or services path and test compliance, economics, capacity, delivery, capital, and strategic value.
